The sickly-sweet macabre of Kristen Liu-Wong

Cabin In The Woods

Kristen Liu-Wong creates beautifully unnerving portraits of sex and violence, where women with snake-like tongues dominate dreamscapes of candy-coloured gradients. Each piece is almost like an ancient tapestry adjusted to portray modern culture, confronting our obsessions with serial killers, sad girls and big guns. Somehow managing to portray sex without being crude or overly-erotic, the playfulness in Liu-Wong's style suggests that her subjects shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Also, overflowing trash has never been so aesthetically pleasing.
